Whew! We made it. Tax time is behind us, no snow this week, things are looking up. Well everything was good here except for the "tornado" that some of us heard and some of us slept through. Tuesday morning gave us a storm remember. So if your lawn furniture is gone, mother nature took it.

Striped Bass

The Striped Bass fishing is excellent. I refuse to tell to many people how many fish are actually being caught down at the point, because I'll get the reputation of a story teller(liar). It has been a strange pattern with fish biting in the early afternoon until about an hour after dark. Night time and early morning fishing is like striper fishing used to be...a bite here and there. The best fishing has been about one hour before the bottom of the tide and three hours of the incoming water. Bloodworms are still the bait of choice. Usually, after the mackerel run with the water warming up, Stripers can be caught on cut bait(bunkers, herring, mackerel, clams). A few fishermen have tried these other baits, but can't convince themselves to leave them out there long enough to do the job. If the guy next to you is catching on bloods it's real hard not to switch to bloods; so bloods it is.

Mackerel

Still no word on the mackerel. I sold lots of green crabs this week to charter boats that are going for Tautog. There will be a few boats on the ocean this weekend and hopefully while steaming off to their favorite wreck they will spot mackerel and catch 'em up.
