Fall is here. Frost is here. Wind is here. Fish are...Hmm.
Mother nature is giving us a tough time. It has been windy weather
all week which makes for a difficult time trying to sneak in good
drifting conditions.
Mica Club's Striped Bass Contest
On a lighter note, the Mica Club 1st Annual Striped Bass contest
was huge success even though only 13 fish were weighed in over the
three days. The after tournament awards ceremony and buffet were
organized and executed very well . The meeting area at the MICA club
was not overcrowded and the service provided by the food and bar
personnel was excellent. There were enough door prizes given out that
every boat in the tournament received a gift. First Place:Bad
Habit(28.0 & 15.6). Second Place:We Get 'Em(18.3 & 17.7) Third
Place:SS Moe(17.0 & *). The tournament was based on the combined
heaviest weight of two fish over 34" weighed in over the weekend.
Three boats didn't weigh in two qualifying fish, so third place was
determined by the single heaviest fish that did not win first or
second place. Congratulations winners! Thank you, MICA club, the
tournament committee; James Gallagher, Lee Webb, and Lou Brofsky, for
a job well done. Many of us are already talking about the second
annual MICA club tournament.
Striped Bass
You really didn't think that was all I was going to say about
stripers did ya? A common question this week is "How long are the
Stripers going to be around?" That depends...A round-about answer is
right through until Christmas which is less than six weeks away. The
drifting eels type of fishing in Little Egg Inlet should last another
three weeks and the jigging and trolling methods of fishing will work
right on into the new year for Striped Bass on lumps and ridges out in
the ocean. Better have a good supply of hand warmers, long johns, and
fancy cold weather hats. Yup, we sell that stuff too!

Monday through Friday 7:30am to 7:00pm
Saturday 6:00am to 7:00pm
Sunday 6:00am to 5:00pm
